Picis is pleased with the final Electronic Health Record Incentive Program document and complimentary of Dr. David Blumenthal and all stakeholder agencies. We applaud Dr. Blumenthal and his team for their comprehensive and diligent work, sorting through the avalanche of comments and creating a workable solution that provides the foundation for a strong EHR plan for the future of healthcare and healthcare IT.

In Stage 1, there are 14 core set of objectives a hospital has to meet and 5 of the 10 menu set objectives to be chosen by the hospital, for a total of 19 objectives. CMS is providing a level of flexibility for hospitals to be able to comply with Stage 1 and continue to prepare for Stage 2 with the expectation that all 24 clinical objectives will need to be met beginning in 2013. In addition, they have identified 15 quality measures that will need to be met.
