Picis Participates in IHE 2010 Connectathon
Illustrates ability to deliver information to support health information exchanges
WAKEFIELD, Mass.— Feb. 15, 2010 —– Picis announced today that it has satisfied the interoperability requirements for electronic health records (EHRs) as part of the 11th Annual IHE 2010 North America Connectathon held January 11-15 in Chicago. Demonstrating its commitment to standards-based interoperability, as promoted by the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Consortium, Picis ED PulseCheck®, the company’s market-leading emergency department information system (EDIS), completed testing in this national testing event. As one of a small group of participating EDIS vendors, Picis had the opportunity to exchange information with 30 complementary systems from multiple vendors and organizations, and performed the transactions required for the roles selected, called IHE Actors, to meet the requirements of integrated clinical use cases, called IHE Profiles.
Validation in the Connectathon is required for vendors to participate in the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase, an event designed to show real world scenarios and workflow of interoperability between healthcare information systems. Picis is participating in the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase, March 1-3 in Atlanta, Georgia and is scheduled to demonstrate its high-acuity solutions at HIMSS10 booth #941.
“Even before the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) HITECH ‘meaningful use’ requirements placed additional focus on interoperability, Picis was committed to providing solutions that fit the workflow of clinicians and help them have the information they need when and where they need it. Since the company’s inception, we have been successfully integrating with a variety of other systems within a given healthcare institution,” says Lourdes Engel, Senior Vice President of Product Development and Chief Technical Officer, Picis. "High performing hospitals recognize this expertise and increasingly choose Picis solutions with their proven interoperability and comprehensive clinical documentation, while also supporting an integrated electronic medical record within an enterprise. Our performance at the Connectathon is proof of our expanding interoperability capabilities and commitment to standards in the industry.”
With 73 participating vendors and organizations, the HIMSS 2010 Interoperability Showcase is designed to illustrate how interoperability drives improvements in the quality, patient safety and efficiency of care. The Showcase highlights IHE's common framework and Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP) Interoperability Specifications for delivering interoperability across local, regional and national health information exchanges.
